Mrs Pero Aina Oyelami: Acting Chairperson, MAHSOSA
The alumni of Makun High School(MHS), Sagamu, Ogun State, will converge on the school by 10am today for another national meeting, in preparation for the 40th anniversary of the school.
The meeting of the MHS Old Students Association, MAHSOSA, is expected to be attended by various sets, starting from the pioneering Set of 1980/85 to the latest who just graduated this year.
The Acting Chairperson of the association, Mrs. Adepero Aina Oyelami, and the general secretary, Mr Kayode Shomorin said this meeting will take a new dimension.
Very germane in the agenda for today are reviewing of the constitution, the hostels project and the progress report on the preparation for the 40th Anniversary.
The meeting will also be a reunion for those who have not seen one another for a couple of years, and decades.
It will be an opportunity as well for everyone to connect and network; in addition to socialising and the reminiscences that will follow.
The MHS was established in September 1980 along with other secondary schools founded by the Ogun state government during the era of late Governor Olabisi Onabanjo, to meet the educational needs of the people and human resources development of the Western part of the country.
The first principal of the school, late Rev. J.O. Ogunbomehin who administered it between 1980 and ’85, had laid a strong foundation of discipline and industry for the institution.
The second principal, late Ven. Olufemi Osituyo sustained the foundation, built upon the structures he met and handed over in 1990 to the third principal, late Akogun Segun Okeowo (of the Ali-Must-Go students unrest in Nigeria) .
Okeowo administered the school till he was transferred to Remo Secondary School, Sagamu, in 1995, during which he brought a lot of changes to the school as well.
Among the three public secondary schools built in Makun community, Sagamu, that same 1980, MHS has distinguished herself in many areas and sustained her leadership position in academics, sports and other extracurricular activities.
